Heavy snow Day Trek from Torino

By | Turin Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

When you see that forecast gives rain in winter time you do not have to think negative. Rain does mean snow in mountains and even though there are less big view landscapes, a day hike in heavy snow is an amazing experience that everyone should do at least once in life. So do not trust people saying that there is bad weather. There is not bad weather in the mountains. It is just about to choose the right place and go with the right mood into the mountains. And for sure that was the case of the nice group of……

Australian VIP in a rough wild Hike

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area | No Comments

When Judy (fantasy name) wrote me that she and her partner were about to come in Torino and they were looking for a 2 days snowshoeing in the Alps I though they were backpackers on their twenties. Usually people do not write me with 1-2 days in advance. Someone is booking serveral months before the hike is happening. I even had someonve asking for a preview of cost for summer 2018. So, what I mean is that usually the people travelling improvising like this are students and backpackers. So when I saw Judy  and John (fantasy name) I was a……

In the Alps as you already probably undertood if you follow this blog there are places that could be from all over the world. This chapter of the “Travelling the world in the Alps” is bringing you in Norway. In particular in the norwegian Fjords. The real place is a hughe lake (actually in the French territory) which is only one hour by car far from Torino. In that one hour it really seems to be in another part of the planet. The huge Lake of Moncenisio is a hidropower station and is located at more than 2000 meters in……

Challenging Trek in Mont Blanc

By | Monte Bianco Hiking Area | No Comments

When Wael asked me for a challenging trek in Mont Blanc was not expert. He and his friend Shedi and Amir want to have a nice adventure and experience and from their young age their fear was that the trip was not adventurous enough. I think from the first day they got the message that the mountain is adventurous and to trek in the Alps is hard work. We had the luck to be joined by the very nice company of Dr. Ramar:) He joined aleasy last year a trek in Orsiera National Park but this time the landscape was……

Wondering in the Alps

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area, Monte Bianco Hiking Area | No Comments

This article and pictures show you about 5 days hiking and trekking in the middle of September. The setting of this 5 days of hiking was Aosta Valley and different persons took part to different part of the trek. We did slept both in unguarded huts and bed and breakfast. Any hike was different; we had so much beauty, little bit of thrilling in arriving in the night in the Borghi hut in Gran Paradiso National Park and enjoying the beautiful scultures in Aosta valley on the last day hike. The Monte Bianco also is a big protagonist of the……

By | Langhe Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

This Val Maira Trek was very interesting not only for the hike itself but alos for the people that join it. What happened with Phil was one of the most incredible thing that happened to me. Phil contacted me in August asking if I could organize an hike starting the 3rd of September. I said yes thinking that I was lucky as my friend Stefano was coming from Australia to marry the 2nd of September and so I could be the guide of the trek with Phil. After a couple of messages with whatsup Phil sent me a message: World……

Monte Avic Trek – Mont Glacier

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area | No Comments

The hike we had in Mont Glacier was a very spectacular and pretty challenging trek. The Mont Avic Natural Park is one of the most beautiful part of Italy and the cozy hut of Borroz maybe the most comfortable and cozy hut in the whole Alps. We did enjoy different weather and we met still the cows up in the mountains with a pretty scary shepherd. The lake of Vavolidec was in amazing shape and we really could not stop woowing about it and the mountain landscape we were looking. I also learned an important card game called asshole and……

Val Maira 3 Days Hike

By | Langhe Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

Val Maira is a very beautiful places that is going to be more and more explored. It is called the west dolomites and from the pictures you see this name is definitively respecting this name. There are several different unguarded hand guarded shelter where to sleep but because in August most of the Italian business are closed and all people goes out we did bring our Ferrino tents. And it was a perfect decision as the Bivacco Barenghi was completely full. The path to reach the 2815 meters is pretty steep and long. We did have some hiking mates along……

Valgrisenche Hike Tour

By | Monte Bianco Hiking Area | No Comments

Valgrisenche is one of the wildest valley in Aosta Valley and this Valgrisenche hike was just spectacular. It is full of beautiful paths and trails and we really enjoy the courtesy and the authentic atmosphere of the shelters in this magnificent valley. Our hike in Valgrisenche started at the end of the road and we basically hiked in the ancient trees(Larix Decidua) before to reach the high pastures. The group was really funny and international and a very nice atmosphere among us was part of the beauty of the trek. We did reach the pass between Valgrisenche and Val di……

Inn to Inn Trekking in Italy

By | Monte Rosa Matterhorn Hiking Area | No Comments

Follow the Concannon. Mike’s right. The Inn to Inn trekking experience in the Alps was excellent also for the guide. I did organize a medium difficulty trek up and down the Valtournanche and Val d’Ayas. The area have been chosen due to the nice villages where we could find comfortable inn (or hotel) every night. Chamois was maybe the most interesting as in this small village at almost 2000 meters of altitude you can arrive only with the cable car or by foot. We did came and enjoyed a 4 stars hotel with sauna and few other luxury that I……

Gran Paradiso Trekking Tour

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area | No Comments

This Gran Paradiso Trekking tour was fabulous: 4 days hiking in the first National Park of Italy. The weather was perfect, the place is magical as usual and this Gran Paradiso Trekking Tour could not have ended better with reaching the 3630 meters of Rossa Peak of Grivola in a wonderful chilly day. The Alps from up there are just fabulous: we could see Matterhorn, Monte Bianco and of course Gran Paradiso and Grivola. But this final hike was only the cherry on a tasty cake. The company was very heterogeneous and funny. Lots of fun, crazy people (right Rich),……

Team Building Business Trip Trek

By | Turin Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

When I was contacted by Don for organizing a Business Trip trekking tour for around 30 lawyers from London I was expecting a very moderate and pretty serious group of men and women around 50 years old. This is how the lawyers looks like in Italy. I definitively was surprised when I saw a group of very young guys up in the bus when I welcomed them in Italy. The group was extremely funny and we had a really nice time up in the Alps with them. I asked help to my friends Attilio and Ambra from Worldpaths and the……

Trekking with Children

By | Turin Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

It was one of the first experiences for me to do trekking with children. I must say I had a lot of fun but I also have to admit that Grant and Sam are not “normal children”. They were super motivated, very positive and excellent hikers! I bet most of the children can’t have all this positive features. And when i listen them speaking about the hike telling that “Yes, the Sistine Chapel was beautiful but this hike is much more cool…” I was really proud. Not of me but more proud about the place where I live, that is……

Gran Paradiso July Hike – Snow in summer

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area | No Comments

It is pretty seldom but even in July in the mountains it can snow. In particular we did find in this 2 days hike of July in Gran Paradiso an amazing freezing 2 days. It was the only 2 days of such cold temperatures and it was a crucial that I brought some extra jackets for everyone. The hike at the unguarded hut in Gran Paradiso was pretty long and I am sure that some of the hikers were not expecting such an hard hike. But nonetheless the company and the spirit of the hike was super positive and we……

Val Maira 2 Days Trek

By | Langhe Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

Even two days can be a pretty glorious experience in the Italian Alps. In this Val Maira 2 days trek we did enjoy the solitude and the wildlife of this pretty unknown valley of south Piedmont. We were supposed to go towards Gran Paradiso but the weather in the north west Alps was pretty stormy and horrible so we head south to the fabulous Val Maira. The clouds here were not so many and actually added a mystic flavor to our 2 days trek. The company was fantastic and pretty un-homogenous: Mexico, US, Romania, England, Finald and Italy. We’ve been……

But I have to say I had lots of luck as the weather was perfect and the location that I choosed made everything very easy! This Tour Company in Monte Bianco Trek was a real success. The company was a bit crazy but I would day delightful…….

Wild Trek in Italy – International Expedition

By | Turin Alps Hiking Area | One Comment

This wild trek in Italy was a spectacular example of the opportunity of the Italian Alps. Nics is a thai lady and is been spending 2 years in Europe for her studies. When I asked you what was her favourite part of Europe she looked around saying: “thi nii” which means in thai language “here”. I am very proud of letting the world discover the most remote valley of the Alps. There is a problem of people running away from these valleys because there is no jobs and is hard for young people to adapt to this kind of environment……

We also had the special guest in Zaira, a very nice and smiling Indonesian lady in the last two days. The weather in the Monte Rosa was very good. We did avoid an amazing hail storm eating hot chocolate in a bar before……
