Best Sunrise of the Year!

By | Langhe Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

Sunrise and Sunset are always an incredible spectacle. I often prefer the colors of the sunset, also because I usually see all of them while the sunrise, especially in June and July are very early. Hiking in the mountains give me the amazing opportunity to be witness of the incredible spectacle of Nature. And this hike in Maira Valley was definitively one of those. The sunrise we got in the middle of the Langhe Alps, in the southern Piedmont was dramatic. I was sleeping in the hut when I opened a bit my eyes and saw a reddish light coming……

Mont Avic Natural Park Trekking Ring

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area | No Comments

Mont Avic is a hidden gem of the Alps. Even if we did this hike in August which is supposedly the very high season in this Mont Avic Hiking Trek, we meet very few hikers. The trek is a wonderful medium difficulty hike and has several options to make it more challenging or easier. The highlights of the area are probably the many glaciar lakes. The area is north exposed and the glaciers ere here only few centuries ago. They left an amazing amount of beautiful lakes all over the places. There are also few 3000 meters peak and the……

Day hike in France From Turin

By | Turin Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

It was almost two weeks I was not in the mountains. I was extremely happy to come back as in these two weeks I moved house and it was the hottest days of the year, as Murphy Law teach us. So it was a wonderful opportunity to go with Simone reaching a peak. I chose the Signal du Petit Moncenis, because it was near and in a place where I have never been before. I prepared very carefully and the path was amazing. I had another time the confirmation that when the weather is cloudy the pictures comes out better……

Tailor Made Tour of Mont Blanc

By | Monte Bianco Hiking Area | No Comments

In order to overcome your limit and rise the bar of pain is part of a mountain experience. In this short tour of Mont Blanc I am pretty sure Ben and Debbie learned this lesson pretty well. We’ve been hiking for more than 3500 meters uphill and downhill in three long and hard days. Numbers though, sometimes are too little to describe. If you’ve never hike 1000 meters uphill you don’t know what does it means. Many people ask me how many miles or Kilometers their hiking holidays will be. It is the wrong question. The Alps are pretty though…….

Trekking with Children in Italy

By | Turin Alps Hiking Area | No Comments

There is an age when starting hike with your kids? Yes: zero! You can bring you child with you from when they are born. Probably better to not go above 2000 meters when they are just born but I know people going at 3000 meters with their kids. And nothing wrong happened. The most difficult age to go with kids is between 2 and 4 when their weight is a lot but they probably will not be able to follow you in the hikes around the Alps and the world. After that, at 5, if they want they will be……

Maritime Summer and Spring Hike

By | Mediterranean Riviera Hiking Area | No Comments

There was a heat wave while we hiked with my Latvian friends and Sini from Finland. Both groups already came last year with Trekking Alps and I am very proud of the returning customers. The hike in Maritime Alps was amazing. It was a fantastic 3 days loop in front of the Argentera peak, the king of the Maritime Alps at more than 3200 meters of altitude. Up in the mountains at 2500 meters it was still pretty hot with 25 degrees centigrade as there was a big heat wave heating up South Europe. An escape in the mountains was……

Australian VIP in a rough wild Hike

By | Gran Paradiso Hiking Area | No Comments

When Judy (fantasy name) wrote me that she and her partner were about to come in Torino and they were looking for a 2 days snowshoeing in the Alps I though they were backpackers on their twenties. Usually people do not write me with 1-2 days in advance. Someone is booking serveral months before the hike is happening. I even had someonve asking for a preview of cost for summer 2018. So, what I mean is that usually the people travelling improvising like this are students and backpackers. So when I saw Judy  and John (fantasy name) I was a……

The setting of this 5 days of hiking was Aosta Valley and different persons took part to different part of the trek. We did slept both in unguarded huts and bed and breakfast. Any hike was different; we had so much beauty, little bit of thrilling in arriving in the night in the Borghi hut in Gran Paradiso National Park and enjoying the beautiful scultures in Aosta valley on the last day hike. The Monte Bianco also is a big protagonist of the……
