Dolomites Alta Via 2 is a challenging and immersive hike that crosses the Western Dolomites along splendid paths at high

altitudes (on average between 2000 and 3000 metres), passing alongside numerous splendid peaks of over 3000 meters. The hiking route offers a variety of views, too thanks to the different geological characteristics of the various mountain groups, which translate into different shapes and colors. The blooms will also be numerous and varied, with July being the month ideal for observing many species, while chamois and marmots will be easy encounters between the animals that populate these environments. Icing on the cake, conditions allowing, the climb to the top of Piz Boè (3152 m)! The departure is unusual compared to the traditional itinerary and takes place from Val di Funes, homeland of Reinhold Messner and an ideal place to admire the splendid Odle Group. After half a day of walking, we will take the classic Alta Via 2 route arrive at Rifugio Genova, where we will be guests for the first night. We will continue from here walking along the splendid eastern side of the Odle, along a great route of geological and floristic interest that offers extraordinary views. The destination of the day is the refuge Puez, located in a green and solitary valley, surrounded by islands of whitish rocks that give the place something mysterious and wild. You continue easily through the Puez Group, you pass through the small alpine lake of Crespèina and the Pass Gardena before accessing the Sella Group, where the last climb of the day (challenging and with an equipped section) takes us to the Pisciadù Refuge. The fourth day sees us cross the entire Sella Group and climb, weather and legs permitting, the top of Piz Boè, for what we can easily define as the queen stage of this trek: we are in a rocky high altitude environment, but effort and commitment will be adequate compensated. After passing the Pordoi Pass, the itinerary becomes easier and leads us to the panoramic Rifugio Viel del Pan, with a splendid view of Gran Vernel and Marmolada. With a nice variant, we go around these two mighty mountains and reach the Contrin refuge, after having climbed the valley of the same name. We return to the classic route of the Alta Via 2 to get to the San Pellegrino Pass, after having passed through the suggestive e lunar Pas da le Cirèle and the green and picturesque Fuciade basin, with a relaxing and profitable, perfect for metabolizing the fantastic experience just lived. Trekking on the Alta Via 2 is for experienced and trained hikers. It is mainly held at quotas between 1900 and 2700 meters, exceeding 3000 meters in the Sella Group. These altitudes make it necessary to have good mountain equipment with you, which allows us to adequately deal with any unexpected weather events. Along the way yes find some passages that are technically more demanding and/or exposed, both uphill and downhill, in some of them there are insurances and in any case, safe walking is required, with the absence of dizziness and familiarity with progression on steep terrain.
