FAQ
- Is Monte Rosa hike, a challenging hike?
-
The challenge is part of the hike. Without physical challenge, the experience would not be as memorable. The Monte Rosa hike is pretty suitable for people in good shape, ready to be tired also without any experience. It is considered here in Trekking Alps, a medium challenging hike (3 out of 5).
- Will we hike on a glacier?
-
No, we will see one of the biggest glaciers of the Alps, but we are not walking on it. For that, you would need an alpine guide. If you want to reach a 4000 meter peak, Monte Rosa offers “easy 4000 meters,” and we can add a couple of days at the end of the hike, and you can also experience the glacier walk. That becomes of course, way more challenging and considerably more expensive, but feel free to ask to organize your 4000 meters ascent with an alpine guide.
- How can I get to the Alps?
-
Booking an adventure with Trekking Alps is a very good way to get rid of logistical problems as sometimes mountains can be not easy to reach by public transport. You just need to arrive in Torino, which is pretty well connected to any place in the world and than we will take care of you. Milan Malpensa is also a very good airport to land at and then you can take a direct bus to Torino. Monte Rosa is less than 2 hours away.
- Can I do the hike without a guide?
-
The Monte Rosa hike organized by Trekking Alps is a decently safe hike. The paths are not very hard to follow, and if you are in good shape, and you know the mountain environment, you can consider going by yourself without a guide. We can help you with a Local guide consultancy to define the details of your trip, but then you will be completely relying on your experience for your safety. Consider that, even in summer, some mountain passes might be covered with snow, which makes the hike way more dangerous.
- Is it dangerous to hike in the mountains?
-
The mountain is a beautiful but unprotected environment. Many people get injured in the Alps if they don’t know what they are doing, or they underestimate the risks of wild nature. Booking a hike with Trekking Alps you will have a certified local guide and this will definitely protect you from most of the common mistakes you might do, but still you need to know that Zero Risk does not exist. The only animal that can harm you is the Viper, but the most dangerous is definitely falling from cliffs or thunderstorms.
- Is this hike safe all year round?
-
No. Every hike must be considered carefully. In general, the safest period, when the snow is gone from the high passes, is usually August. That said, having a snow thunderstorm in August is not impossible. So, every hike must be carefully evaluated. Booking with Trekking Alps, you can be sure that the adventure booked is doable with reasonable security levels, and in case the conditions are not secure, there will be some other option avaiable for you.
