Pale Group Hiking Tour

the heart of the Dolomites, in northeastern Italy. The Pale Group Hiking tour is located on the amazing plateau of Pale di San Martino: a unique place in the Dolomites. It was called a High altitude rocky desert by the first English excursionists, who explored it in the 19th century. Between 2400 and 2700 meters, thanks to the rise of temperatures today also hosts a minimum of pioneer vegetation in the heart of summer, with beautiful flowers. But you feel a sense of alienation and disorientation up there the same as in the past, like a constant wonder and a great sense of freedom. The trek we propose crosses it entirely, but not only: we will go around it the entire splendid Pale di San Martino Group, which we will admire first from the north and then from the south when we walk on the plateau. We will leave in the welcoming Val di Gares, surrounded by greenery and waterfalls, to climb towards a decidedly more rocky environment and severe. On the first night, we will sleep at the Mula Refuge, right below the Cima di Focobon, which opens the line up of the various 3000s in the group. Than our Pale Group Hiking Tour will set off again with an exciting crossing at the foot of the impressive northern side of the Pale, dotted with 3000 meter peaks, so close that feels like you can touch them with a finger. Keep hiking above the town of San Martino of Castrozza to climb up to the extraordinary Rifugio Rosetta, the only alpine refuge on the plateau, in a sublime position. Over the next two days in the Pale Group Hiking Tour we will mostly walk on the plateau of Pale di San Martino, passing between one day and the next through the bright and rustic Val Canali, where we will stop at the Rifugio Trieste, before closing the ring in Val di Gares. Legs and weather permitting, we will be able to crown the final part of the trek with the climb to the top of La Fradusta (2939 m). Trekking is suitable for expert and trained hikers as we will hike mainly between 2000 and 2700 meters, which requires surefootedness and features paths with steep sections and terrain rocky or slippery. We will be guests in characteristic and spectacular high-altitude alpine refuges (both at almost 2600 meters), where you sleep in shared rooms with shared bathrooms.
