the more accessible 4000 meters and it is a good climb for those who want to approach mountaineering at high altitude. Summit Gran Paradiso Peak at 4061 meters is incredible: it is the only 4000 meters which is entirely in Italy. All the other big peaks of the Alps are on the border with Switzerland, France and Austria. Summit Gran Paradiso peak is an experience you will hardly forget. Waking up in the middle of the night, hiking with head torch and than trekking in the glaciers till the very high peak. Experiencing the sunrise from the glaciers up there it is something will be in your heart forever. Climbing Gran Paradiso Summit has no particular technical difficulty. You need to have an Alpine Guide though as a glacier is a dangerous place and you need to proceed with crampons, rope and harness. From Gran Paradiso Summit you'll have an incredible view all over northwest Italy. You will spot all the big other 4000 meters of the Aosta Valley and France. From Bar des Ecrins to Monviso, from Monte Rosa and Matterhorn to Mont Blanc. This Summit peak can be combined with one of our trek in Gran Paradiso National Park, in Cogne Valley or in the Valsavarenche and Rhemes Valley. A wonderful trek ending with the climb of Gran Paradiso Peak is going to be for sure the highlight of your trip in Italy! There are different routes to do the summit Gran Paradiso and at least two of them can be considered for not super experienced mountaineers. From Cogne Valley is a wilder and longer option while from Valsavaranche is the “Normal Route”. If you want to climb Gran Paradiso Summit from a difficult route it is possible to climb from the North Face, a steep Ice climb fit for expert climbers. You can contact us with the specific request of a more difficult route involving ice climbing and we'll put you in contact directly with the Alpine Guide so that you can decide which climbing route you want to take.
